J. Cole has confirmed that he is in the final stages of completing his highly anticipated album, The Fall Off.
The announcement came during a tour stop in Tampa, Florida, as part of the “It’s All A Blur – Big as the What?” tour with Drake. While opening the tour, Cole shared, “Right now, I’m at the tail end of working on this album I’ve been working on for a long time. It’s called The Fall Off.” Drake also expressed his support for Cole, describing the project as a “classic” after having listened to it.
The Fall Off will serve as the follow-up to Cole’s successful 2021 album, The Off-Season, which debuted at No. 1 and earned him a GRAMMY nomination for Best Rap Album. Speculation has surrounded The Fall Off, with many believing it could be one of Cole’s final releases before his retirement. In a now-deleted Instagram post, Cole shared a list of potential album titles, with The Fall Off appearing as the last entry.
The caption accompanying the post read, “I still got some goals I gotta check off before I scram…” Additionally, Cole had previously hinted at the possibility of retirement in an essay for The Players’ Tribune, where he mentioned having a few remaining items on his career bucket list before moving on to the next chapter of his life.
Fans eagerly await an official release date for The Fall Off, as Cole’s upcoming album promises to be a significant moment in his career.
