Nicki Minaj’s Pink Friday 2 has officially broken a Spotify record and is projected to debut at No. 1 on next week’s Billboard 200 chart.
The artist shared the news on X, announcing that Pink Friday 2 had set a new Spotify record. According to Chart Data, the album’s estimated 41 million streams over the weekend marked the biggest debut for a female hip-hop album in Spotify’s history. Additionally, Chart Data revealed that Pink Friday 2 has now reached the eligibility criteria for a gold certification from the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA), having sold at least 500,000 units in the United States.
According to projections from HITS Daily Double, Pink Friday 2 is expected to debut at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart, with estimated equivalent album units ranging from 170,000 to 190,000 in its first week. If these forecasts prove to be accurate, it will signify the largest debut for a female rap artist in 2023.
